Beautiful houseplants to make you happy.
Houseplant shop in Market Harborough

***EXTRA HOURS, EXTRA HOUSEPLANTS*** Whether you' ***EXTRA HOURS, EXTRA HOUSEPLANTS***

Whether you're looking for the perfect gift or a little something to brighten up your own space pop into our gorgeous shop in Abbey Street (we're just down the road from Mercado Lounge). We can help you find a beautiful houseplant and stylish pot and you'll always get helpful care tips. Or take a look at our fabulous ready-made terrariums.

We also have lots of ideas for gift vouchers: from vouchers to spend in store to vouchers for our brilliant workshops. These are great for that fussy houseplant person in your life. Let them choose exactly what they want, whilst still benefiting from our expert help when they visit to redeem their voucher. Or give the gift of a fun experience - maybe they'd like to build their own terrarium under our expert guidance.

We'll be open every day from tomorrow until Christmas Eve and look forward to welcoming you to our houseplant haven.
***OPENING TIMES*** Our opening times at the shop ***OPENING TIMES***

Our opening times at the shop are almost back to normal this week. We'll have lots of beautiful houseplants and stylish pots, as well as gorgeous terrariums. Don't forget we have Gift Vouchers to spend in store, as well as vouchers for our workshops. You've got Susie in store on Thursday and Friday and then Mr windowsill on Saturday and Sunday. It's probably best you don't save your most difficult plant questions for this weekend, but Mr windowsill will do his best and is great at choosing fabulous plant-pot combinations.

Susie is heading out to Lamport Hall again for the second weekend of their Christmas market. This is a wonderful shopping event, with lots of festive extras and enjoyable even in the rain (although we're hoping for mild weather). If you would like to find out more about the event and buy tickets in advance pop onto the Lamport Hall website. If you do come along it's helpful if you bring some cash as we often struggle to get connected to our card payment systems.
***IT'S BEGINNING TO LOOk A LOT LIKE... **" We st ***IT'S BEGINNING TO LOOk A LOT LIKE... **"

We started the festive season last week with Late Night Shopping (thanks to everyone who came out and made the whole town feel happy and sparkly) and we're continuing over the next few weeks with some events, which will result in some changes to our shop hours.

You will find us at Lamport Hall Christmas Market over the next two weekends, with some special plants and pots which have been especially chosen to make excellent presents - even if you are buying for yourself! The whole event is really fun, with choirs and fairies and a wonderful atmosphere. We're excited to be sharing a space with our friends @dragonflyand.co and their gorgeous scents. This is a ticketed entry (you can buy in advance online from Lamport Hall website).

For this week there will be some changes in personnel in the shop. On Friday afternoon Susie will be setting up at Lamport Hall and you will find Mr windowsill in the shop until 3pm. The shop will be closing a little early as it's the Christmas Fayre and we know you mostly want to get ready to go out and enjoy the fun. On Saturday and Sunday Karin will be donning the apron ready to help you in the shop from 11am to 3pm both days. The shop will be full of beautiful plants and stylish pots and you'll receive a warm welcome from Mr windowsill or Karin, but just be aware that if you have a particular question or need help from Susie you will need to come in on Thursday or Friday this week or next.

If you have a particular houseplant in mind that you would like for Christmas I suggest that you pop in to see Susie or message directly so we can check that it is available and can be ordered in good time.
***SPECIAL EVENTS*** Just a heads-up for you all ***SPECIAL EVENTS***

Just a heads-up for you all of the special events that we've got coming up over the festive season.

This Friday 28th November it's Late Night Shopping in Market Harborough. A brilliant relaxed shopping event with plenty of independent shops (and some of the bigger chains too). We will be open until 8.30pm. It's your chance to get everything tucked off your list without struggling through the crowds - all whilst supporting small businesses. It's a classic win-win. Check Market Harborough Late Night Shopping online for more information on the shops participating.

The following two weekends (6/7th & 13/14th December) we will be at Lamport Hall, bringing beautiful houseplants for the masses. This is a great day out, with lots of fantastic stalls and fun festive activities. This is a paid entry event with tickets bookable online through Lamport Hall website. The shop will be open both weekends (*slightly reduced opening times - we will let you know) with Karin and Mr windowsill dinning the apron and ready to help. If you are looking for more in depth help or advice you might want to check the days that Susie is there.

As if trading at Lamport Hall for the first two weekends of December isn't enough we're fitting in a cheeky return to Warwick Arts Centre on Tuesday 09th December. We had a fabulous time at their Fresher's event a couple of months ago and are looking forward to going back with more houseplant loveliness.

The best thing about all these events is that we've spent some extra time thinking about what beautiful houseplants and gorgeous pots you all might like and will have some special combinations available throughout the next month both at the events and in the shop.

Today marks three years since we opened the doors of our gorgeous shop in the Old Fire Station, Abbey Street. I'm celebrating with Mr windowsill (and my childhood birthday candle holders); the shop is back open as usual Thursday to Sunday.

You all know how difficult things are on the high street at the moment (and we're quite some way off the high street!), but you keep showing up to buy yourselves a little treat, find the perfect houseplant gift, attend a workshop and support this tiny business. We are incredibly grateful to each and every one of you.

We are using this landmark point to re-launch our mailings - packed with houseplant news and hints, information about our events and workshops and special offers. If you'd like to receive these emails (only one or two a month) you subscribe via the link in our website - link in bio.

I had such a great time at the recent Kokedama workshops that I ran for Bosworths Garden Centres that I've decided to add a couple of sessions for you to join me in the shop in Market Harborough and spend an hour mixing mindfulness with messiness.

You will choose from a selection of suitable houseplants and I will guide you through the process of mixing up the soil, packing it around the roots and wrapping it all in moss. I'll explain everything as we go along and you'll take home your beautiful pot-less plant.

These workshops are relaxed and a lot of fun. We definitely are not focusing on perfection - it's very much a state of mind around embracing the imperfection and connecting (literally) with nature.

DAYTIME WORKSHOP - Tuesday 21st October, 2-3-30pm
EVENING WORKSHOP - Thursday 23rd October, 6-7.30pm

Book online (link in bio), in store or reserve your spot by messaging me here. These sessions are available to buy as a gift - why not bring along your friends or family.

***RE-POTTING SERVICE*** This might be the bigges ***RE-POTTING SERVICE***

This might be the biggest plant I've re-potted so far! It was an absolute honour to help out this gorgeous (unnamed) Monstera, who had become a bit overgrown and unbalanced. Once I'd managed to prise it out of the pot it became clear that I was there not a moment too soon - it was totally root-bound and as a result could not properly take on water or nutrients. I upgraded the pot, teased out the roots and discarded the old, spent soil and made it nice and cozy in some fabulous @soil.ninja Monstera mix, before gently encouraging it to climb against a new, taller mosspole.

Signs that your plants might appreciate being re-potted are if they aren't taking in water, if the soul looks dry and dusty, if the plant is struggling or if you see roots congesting. There is still time to settle your plants into new pots before the end of the season.

If you have a plant you love that needs a re-pot we can help! You can come to our Soils & Re-potting workshop (details on website). We stock brilliant @soil.ninja soils in store and we can advise on the best mix for you. Or if you're really nervous we can do the re-pot for you.

Pop into the shop or message to find out more.

***JUDITH*** I'm a sucker for a plant with a name ***JUDITH***

I'm a sucker for a plant with a name. Judith, the jade plant, was donated into the shop for our recent Pre-loved Plants event. She was a bit wonky and kept falling over and it was obvious she needed a re-post, plus she came with a few fungus gnat friends. Sadly no-one choose her but having hung out in the shop with her for a month I've become really attached, so after making a donation to our @parkinsonsuk total I took her home with me.

The first job was to remove the horrible soil she was sitting in. It was like a hard block and freeing her cost most of her roots. These plants are really resilient and I'm confident that now she has been repotted in some fabulous soil ninja cactus & succulent soil she will soon grow new roots. I've given her a trim to balance her up and also reduce strain whilst she's growing a healthy root system.

I've popped her on an east facing windowsill with about seven other Crassula plants (no, you're right, I don't need another) and will update you with her progress later in the summer.

If you're interested in saving plants I would heartily recommend our Soils & Re-potting workshop to get you started in the right direction.

***WORKSHOPS*** One of our favourite things to do ***WORKSHOPS***

One of our favourite things to do is to fling open the doors of our gorgeous little shop and welcome you in for a bit of me-time on one of our workshops.

Our new programme is under construction but we still have the last few sessions of the current programme and spaces available on all courses.

🪴 Tuesday, 22nd July, 6-8pm - join us on our Soils & Re-potting workshop to find out more about what your plants really want from their soils and how to re-pot like a pro.

🪴 Thursday 22nd July, 6-7.30pm - it's our popular Terrarium building workshop. This session is confirmed to go ahead and we'll have a brilliant selection of tiny plants for you to make your own glass garden

🪴 Thursday 07th August, 6-8pm - it's Houseplant Care, where we change everything you thought you knew about looking after houseplants and turn you into a houseplant hero.

Sessions are available to book online (link in bio) or pop in or message to reserve your place - these are relaxed, informal and non-judgemental and brilliant for sharing with a friend. ***HOLIDAY HOURS*** A reminder that the shop has ***HOLIDAY HOURS***

A reminder that the shop has reduced opening hours from 26/06 to 09/07. You'll have lovely Karin keeping everything ship-shape and helping you select perfect plants on Fridays and Saturdays from 11am to 3pm. There's lots of gorgeous plants and pots for you to choose from.

It's probably not the week to bring in your plants for re-potting by us but we have a full range of @soil.ninja mixes, so this is your chance to do it yourself. It's also the perfect opportunity to buy yourself that plant I've not been letting you get because I wasn't sure your plant parenting skills were up to it - go on, fill your home with tricky houseplants and prove me wrong!
